Obiang & Ogbonna
Not just based off today but something I have thought for a while but why the fuck were these 2 given new long term contracts this summer?

Collins is better than Ogbonna and Obiang is so limited in everything he does and his performances last season were vastly overrated by many of our fan base.

Re: Obiang & Ogbonna
The back four warrant criticism but their job is made more difficult by lack of midfield defensive cover. Obiang had an ineffective day and it showed why we are trying to bring in this Portugeezer to firm things up.

Re: Obiang & Ogbonna
Agree with Fifth. Obiang is an outstanding player who had a poor game. In part due to the amount of space and movement around him that his teammates left.
I also don't mind Ogbonna. He has strength and a bit of pace. If he had been marking Lukaku for the second goal he wouldn't have had a free header. You don't get international caps for Italy if you are crap.
We have a squad of very good players who just don't play as a team, don't defend as a team, don't look organised defending set plays or dangerous when they get their own.
A few players are coming back from a long time out - these are two of them. They need games to get back to their best.

Never rated Ogbonna (or Fonte), thought the formers problem last season was an injury he carried. Is he still carrying it because he was poor again?

Obiang is an outstanding player who had a nightmare today,

Ogbonna is better than Collins by miles.

Obiang is a very good player, usually. I can forgive him today.

I've never rated Ogbonna as much as most on here, but I'd rather he plays than Fonte or an ageing Collins.

Yeah pretty tough that gig Charoo.

Even tougher when the ref lets them foul and foul and foul and foul and foul.

When Bailly (?) was given his yellow, the ref clearly said something along the lines of that's your third, yet Pogba must have committed 4 or 5 without getting anything.

Re: Obiang & Ogbonna
Obiang had a poor game but was in the middle with Noble and Fernandes.

Just Mata, Matic and Pogba to play against then! Good fucking luck with that.

Re: Obiang & Ogbonna
I wondered why Masuaku ended up marking Lukaku, because it was completely obvious that he would be the number one target.

Masuaku vs Lukaku there's only one winner

Should we not have had a man on the post as well? Again, pretty obvious that the plan would be for the ball to be whipped in onto the head of Lukaku who'd nod it into one of the corners.

Re: Obiang & Ogbonna
Reid looked half fit too and should have been marking Lukaku for the simple headed goal bit was wrong side and relying on Arfur was always a risk.

So many poor players in terms of effort and work rate but also lack of belief. Manager is at the root of this IMO.

It looked like nobody was told to maeliminate lukaku or og didn't bother.

Obiang was very poor today. Shit and slow in possession. Weak off the ball.

We need more strength in dm

Swindon, if you've been thinking that for a while, you really are a clueless cunt.

Good players horribly exposed by missing teammates. I cannot for the life of me understand why Ogbonna was not marking Lukaku for their second goal.

Re: Obiang & Ogbonna
Ogbonna is the best central defender we've had at the club for many, years. How much better where we before he was out for his surgery last season? I'll tell you, much better.

Obiang is a quality player who had a really bad game, against a really, really good Manchester United midfield.

Apart from that, you are spot on.

Obiang had a mare today, but it doesn't change my opinion that he's the best central midfielder we've got. At the moment...

Re: Obiang & Ogbonna
Oh do Fuck off

Maybe Obiang was doing the job of 2 people due to the useless cunt Noble not showing up

Maybe said useless midfield gave no protection to the defence.
